Rehydration Drink
Why Spend money on expensive rehydration drinks
When you become dehydrated plain water is not enough, in fact it can make you worse by watering down the already depleted electrolytes in your body. It is necessary to replace these depleted electrolytes. This is a simple make at home recipe.
- l litre of water
- 2 tablespoons of sugar/honey/sweetener/agave syrup
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- ½ teaspoon of table salt
- ¼ teaspoon of salt substitute (potassium-based), such as Lite Salt or Salt Substitute.
Mix well until all is dissolved.
I would also suggest carrying glucose tablets, sweets or sugar based snacks for that immediate glucose fix. Remember, when you have used up all of your glucose reserves your brain will not function properly and you will go into shutdown mode. (obviously diabetics be aware).
In the healthy normal functioning brain, glucose is the only substrate utilized for energy metabolism.
